ABOUT US: The purpose of CDFEA is to provide a wide variety of educational programs that will serve to promote the domestic ferret as a loving, companion animal while providing the public with the realities and responsibilities of ferret ownership. Who We Are California Domestic Ferret Educational Alliance is committed to protecting and advocating for the domestic ferret. We are an independent California charity, led by a volunteer Board of Directors; we are not an affiliate or "local chapter" of any other organization. We are also non-partisan and do not formally endorse or campaign for candidates. However, we do encourage voters to learn about candidates' records on ferret welfare issues and to elect those who protect domestic ferrets in legislation and public policy. The election of officials who are supportive of animal-friendly measures helps make our governmental advocacy efforts more effective and ultimately benefits all animals, including ferrets. Our Mission… is to improve the lives of ferrets and their owners through education and research. We safeguard, rescue, shelter, heal, adopt and advocate for ferrets in need, while inspiring community action and compassion on their behalf. Our vision… is that we can create a world in which ferrets are regarded as the companion animals they are, and that people will regard these companion animals as lifelong, valued family members; embrace their responsibility for the welfare of domestic ferrets; and respect, value and protect the animals with which we share this earth. PLEASE NOTE: CDFEA does not advocate bringing domestic ferrets into the State of California unlawfully. We do however, recognize that there are many ferrets in California already that require care and would benefit from educational programs and information.
